We humans hate inconsistency in others.
We like to know what we’re getting. Our brains are large and complex, with thousands of processes going on all the time.
So to optimise that work, our brain makes shortcuts. It predicts based on experience. The brain hasn’t the bandwidth to constantly assess, act, reassess, with each entity we come across. Especially when it’s overwhelmed with information coming at it 24/7.
If you’re stressed, you’ll reach for comfort because you know what you’re going to get. It’s part of the reason big brands do so well. You know what you’re getting with them.
Consistency = predictability = safety
The human brain likes this. If you want to get clients or build your business, people need to know you’re consistent. Whether that’s a service you’re delivering, or a product you’re selling, or the way you communicate with others.
Consistency is key to your communications - website copy, social media posts, emails. They must all express a stable brand identity, if you want to build a loyal client base.
So once you’ve worked out what it is, make sure everything aligns with that.

There's an idea in the ether that if you're a holistic, heart-centred, open-to-possibilities person that you can't also be doing business-y things like branding. 😱
And that's cool if you have another source of income, and you don't need your practice/website/services/creative work to pay the rent.
But if you do, then it's really useful to look at what you do from the outside in - and that means learning your brand.✅
'Brand' is a word that makes people 😬, but until we come up with a better one, let's go with it.
If you had all the money in the world, who would you hire to help you with your wellbeing / health / creative practice?
I bet those people have a really strong brand.
That doesn't mean they're not nice people too. Just that they've thought in terms of business.
You could be like that too. And branding can - and in fact, should - be in line with your values. It's how you run your business, after all.
