The Mysterious Affair at Castaway House was my first published novel, but – as is true of many writers – I’ve been trying to get a book deal for years. Here’s the (uplifting!) tale of my journey to publication.
Here’s the feature I wrote for the Brighton & Hove Independent newspaper on how the architecture of my home city inspired Helmstone, my fictional town in Castaway House.
In 2011 I wrote a short story, Mrs Sadler Makes Some Tea, which started my fascination with run-down seaside towns in the 1960s. It’s a darkish little story about a guest-house landlady and her nemesis. It was published by Paraxis and you can read it here.
I’ve also written for Novelicious about my love for Agatha Christie, and you can read the piece here.
2017 update: I now write the back-page column for Breathe Magazine on The Small Escape, or how to achieve real-world escapes within an everyday life. The mag is one of those luxury paper-only sorts so you can’t read the article online, but you can find out where to buy it here (or try WHSmith’s / your local newsagent’s).
